Speakers: Brenna Junker
Brenna Junker: Hi, my name is Brenna Junker and I'm going for diagnostic medical sonography. So just a little bit about me and why I chose that. I think it started around high school when everyone has to start choosing which college they're going to go to. I was having a conversation with my dad and he told me that he would really recommend I look into tech schools because he went to a technical college to be a mechanic and he loved it and that's what he's doing right now. So I started doing that, looking into tech schools and I knew I wanted something to do with like the health care field. So I just started looking at their health care programs and I found sonography and I just loved every aspect of it. And I was looking at the price to go to school. It was much cheaper than universities. to get in and out of school quicker. You know, it's not a four year program for me. It will take about three years in total with my prereqs and everything. But the program itself is only two years. And so I love that. I'm not the biggest fan of school and studying. So whatever would get me in and out the quickest is great. And, I also felt like the classes were a lot more focused on what do you actually need for this career rather than just kind of like class fillers, so to speak. So, I also just loved how ultrasound was a way to get involved in the healthcare field, but was a little bit different than kind of your typical route of nursing, which I feel like a lot of my friends were going for. I just wanted something different and I'm not the biggest fan of blood and needles and ultrasound deals with a lot less of those than nurses do. So, yeah, that's a little bit about me and why I chose stenography.
