Please introduce yourself and share what career you are pursuing and how this scholarship award will help you.
Nardia Pierre: Hi, my name is Nardia Pierre. I am a mom of four. I take care of a family of eight. I'm a U.S. Air Force veteran and I am grateful for this opportunity. The reason why I chose HVAC as a career was because I was disappointed in the level of service that I was receiving. I've replaced units too many times within a five year time span, at least two units and that was very expensive for me. And we know in today's society replacing your heating and air conditioning system is not cheap. And so I felt like I was being taken advantage of and, it wasn't just from one company and I wanted to make a difference in the career field. I was tired of just seeing the situation and not being able to do anything about it and accepting it for what it is. And so for me learning the skill of HVAC would definitely help me personally, but I also wanted to make a difference within the career field. I wanted to be able to bring what I know. to what it is to be a person in a service, a service related field in the Air Force, we always say service before self excellence in all, we do an integrity first. And for me, I was not receiving that and as a veteran, I do expect that and I know we do not live in the world, the military world. But I do think that having that level of standards within a career field helps you to be a better service tech as well as a better help to individuals within your community and a good representation of your career. And so that's one of the reasons why I chose, I wanted to make a difference. I want to be able to stay within this career field and also be able to be on the other side of educating others on how to do the job, do the job, well, as well as how to deal with people and to give them what you promised. So that's one of the reasons skill point with Home Depot scholarship will definitely help me to um help towards me completing my goal in completing this program. The scholarship money will definitely help, I have a lot of responsibilities and so every penny counts and, and so this scholarship I applied for a reason I needed the funds. And so it will help me towards furthering my career as well as once I'm completed to make a difference in my life and those that I serve.
