Please introduce yourself & share with us why you are choosing this educational program & career path.

Brenna Junker: Hi, my name is Brenna Junker and I'm going for diagnostic medical sonography. So just a little bit about me and why I chose that. I think it started around high school when everyone has to start choosing which college they're going to go to. I was having a conversation with my dad and he told me that he would really recommend I look into tech schools because he went to a technical college to be a mechanic and he loved it and that's what he's doing right now. So I started doing that and looking into tech schools and I knew I wanted something to do with the healthcare field. So I just started looking at their health care programs and I found sonography and I just loved every aspect of it. I was looking at the price to go to school. It was much cheaper than universities. You get in and out of school quicker. It's not a four year program for me. It will take about three years in total with my prereqs and everything. But the program itself is only two years. And so I love that. I'm not the biggest fan of school and studying. So whatever would get me in and out the quickest is great. I also felt like the classes were a lot more focused on what you actually need for this career rather than just class fillers, so to speak. So, I also just loved how ultrasound was a way to get involved in the healthcare field, but was a little bit different than your typical route of nursing, which I feel like a lot of my friends were going for, I just wanted something different and I'm not the biggest fan of blood and needles and ultrasound deals with a lot less of those than nurses do. So, that's a little bit about me and why I chose stenography.

What would you like to say to the Donohue Family Foundation for making this scholarship possible?

Brenna Junker: I would like to say a huge thank you to the Donohue Family Foundation for making this scholarship possible. Your generosity is truly amazing and will not be forgotten. And yeah, just know that you are helping students like me to be able to pursue careers that they are actually passionate about. I don't even know if I would have been able to pursue my schooling if it weren't for the help of this scholarship. So, thank you so much.
