A Tribute to Tom Donohue from The SkillPointe Foundation

Kate Glantz: Hi, my name is Kate Glantz and I am a 2024 Donohue Family SkillPointe scholarship recipient. I am recording this message to first and foremost, send my condolences to Mr. Donohue's family. I heard of his passing and I imagine that this is an incredibly difficult time. But also wanted to take a moment to really focus on the incredible legacy that Mr. Donohue and the Family Foundation are leaving on future generations, including me. So, on behalf of the, I believe, more than 100 scholarship recipients, thank you so much for all that you have done to help us advance in our careers. In my case, this was a bit of a career pivot and in the smallest of worlds, I actually worked under Mr. Donohue's leadership at the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation while he was the CEO of the Chamber. So it was really a full circle moment for me when I then became a scholarship recipient to go to carpentry school this year and embark on a new chapter, advocating for women in the trades and hopefully doing my part to get more women into the skilled trades. So I truly believe that his legacy is just beginning in all of the seeds that have been planted in myself and all of these other fellows in every single state who will take the education and the self esteem and the, frankly, the skills to continue building our lives and our communities and our country. So what an honor it was to be part of this story in some small way. And I hope that you and your family and whoever is watching this take some comfort knowing that the Donohue name and his impact will be enduring. So, thank you again, from the bottom of my heart. May his memory be a blessing and may we all continue walking the walk and doing the work to leave our country and our world better than we found it. Thank you so much.
