Sarah Trueman: Hi, I'm Sarah Trueman. I live in Scotland, at the beginning of the Highlands, between Aberfeldy and Pitlochry.
Sarah Trueman: As an artist, Sketch Awesome has helped me to have the confidence to tackle almost any subject - every subject - I think. It has helped me to work more quickly and far less obsessively and I really enjoyed experimenting with different drawing and painting media.
Sarah Trueman: The pair of leather boots... I love these as a subject - - the shape and capturing the shape and the form and practising colour mixing. This was such an excellent exercise in portraits and using different media to capture them. I loved doing the irises, Van Gogh style. Such fun and lovely practice using gouache and colour mixing. And I really enjoyed doing this portrait of Einstein, really trying to capture that subtle look in his eyes and the age and the hair, it was a really interesting exercise. I loved drawing this kitten. I hadn't used the media this way and I was really pleased with the result, capturing the textures of the fur and the look in the eyes. I'm not sure that I enjoyed doing this street scene, but it was such a difficult subject. I was really pleased to have made a reasonable stab at it. This Pop Art style picture was great fun, left a little up to one's own creative imagination, but it was great fun to do.
Sarah Trueman: I would definitely recommend Sketch Awesome to anyone seeking to improve their drawing and observational skills and to increase and extend their experience across a range of drawing and painting media. The teaching style is so friendly, non-intimidating and encouraging across a spectrum of previous artistic experience. It taught me that there is always something to learn to further one's artistic journey. Help is always available at the press of a button. And it is really invaluable to feel part of such a friendly and welcoming worldwide artistic community. Definitely go for it!
