Speaker: Alan Mattinson
Alan Mattinson: Hi, my name is Alan Mattinson and I live in South Yorkshire, in a town called - - or a city now - called Doncaster.
Alan Mattinson: I enjoy Sketch Awesome because Phil is a teacher. He knows how to teach people - not just demonstrate to them and hoping that we are all copying him. We are given advice. We are shown how to do different techniques. He does it, we follow, we pause, or should I say, he pauses, and we pause and catch up. Ah, the other, for me, the most helpful thing, is that we're in a community. We show our work and people show their work and we can look and we can compare and we can comment. And we can almost make friends with people from all over the world.
Alan Mattinson: One or two pages from my sketchbook from this last year. Two sketch books actually. That's a recent one... That's a recent one... Oh, that's another recent recent one. That's actually Phil's dad, when he was getting married a long time ago - done in gouache. Where's my favourite one? OK. Oh yes, here we are. Couple of bears, well - - I'm sorry - A bear and a swan done on dark paper. I believe the boy on the right Is Phil's son. He often uses him as a model. I hope he pays him! And one of my favourties. Our local wildlife park has little dinosaurs as well as real animals. I'm sure the kids like the dinosaurs best. Oh, here we are, a world visit. What else have we got in here? Oh yes, my favourite... ...my favourite - portraits. And my very favourite, I love doing animals and we get the chance to do it. I'm not so keen on flowers, drawing flowers, but... ...these were very entertaining to draw and I enjoyed drawing them.
Alan Mattinson: Would I recommend Sketch Awesome to other hobby artists? I most certainly would! I've had two years of Draw Awesome and Sketch Awesome and it's been... ...Awesome! In the background, some of my recent efforts. And there is no question, no question whatsoever, that I would have been able to do these without the help of Phil. Not that he stood over me drawing whilst I was drawing these, but he stood over me whilst I've been using and learning from Sketch Awesome. and I would thoroughly recommend it. Thank you Phil!
