Speakers: Jennifer Adams
Jennifer Adams: Hi, my name is Jennifer Adams. I'm from Squamish, British Columbia, and I did take the Sketch Awesome Course and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Jennifer Adams: One of the things I did enjoy about Sketch Awesome is the use of different materials and combining different materials, which I would never think of doing. And sometimes the results were actually pretty good. For example, putting down a wash of watercolour but covering it with colored pencils. And you can just create a different look doing that and it was interesting to see.
Jennifer Adams: OK, this is my Sketch Awesome journal and I did a cover page for it and I just picked four random projects that use different materials. The mushroom was done with gouache, which is an entirely different kind of watercolour, which I really found fun to use. The boots were ink and watercolour, which I just loved drawing old boots. The rabbit was watercolour with graphite, which of course I never would have thought of putting together and the portrait was a lesson in how to use the Loomis method for drawing portraits, which is invaluable for the future, whenever I'm trying to draw a little more accurate face.
Jennifer Adams: I would totally recommend Sketch Awesome to other artists, whether you're a beginner or intermediate, or even if you really know what you're doing, because a lot of the projects make you step outside your comfort zone in trying different materials or different approaches on how to draw something. So there's always something to learn in every lesson.
