Why attend the 24th Annual SIOG Conference in Montreal?/ What will you take home from the conference?
Martine Puts: Hello, my name is Martine Puts I'm one of the co-chairs for the SIOG Montreal 2024 conference. And we hope to see you all in Montreal because we think we have great science, the latest research, a lot of interesting education sessions we have for the first year patient partners involved in the program. And of course, it's a great opportunity to meet your colleagues interested in the same area as you are.
Who should attend the SIOG Conference?
Martine Puts: Everyone that is interested in improving the care for older adults should attend. SIOG 2024 whether your nurses allied health students trainees, we hope to all see you in Montreal.
What are the programme highlights?
Martine Puts: This year, we have several sessions on a variety of topics including I think one of the highlights will be what matters most at the session. We have education sessions about how to implement the oncology in various resource settings. We have a nursing, allied Health World Cafe together with the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology. We have sessions on implementing oncology in lower and middle income countries. There is a lot of clinical topics, survivorship, managing toxicities, et cetera So there will be something for everyone at this conference, whether you're a researcher or a clinician, if you are interested in improving care for older adults with cancer.
Why become a SIOG member?
Martine Puts: If you're interested in improving care for older adults with cancer, then you definitely must join SIOG SIOG is a great interdisciplinary society. I'm currently the chair of the Nursing Allied Health Interest Group and we are one of the interest groups in SIOG- There is young SIOG, there's a surgical group, et cetera. And it's really a nice place to meet others with similar interests, to work together, to learn from each other. So it is a must must be membership if you are interested in improving care for all the adults.
