Speaker: Dan Bogar, Chief Revenue Officer, Varcode

How has Shortlist has helped your company?

Dan Bogar: My name is Dan Boger and I am the Chief Revenue Officer for Varcode. We are a startup in the cold chain monitoring space. We're growing rapidly & needed to add enterprise salespeople to our team. Using the traditional methods of sorting through thousands of resumes from different sites just wasn't going to work for us. We just don't have the time for that. So we asked Shortlist to help us narrow the search & find the right people to interview so we could get the right folks on board as quickly as possible.

What was the outcome of your Shortlist?

Dan Bogar: Shortlist was able to give us several qualified candidates to interview. We narrowed them down to the final three. All three of them would have been excellent candidates to bring on board, which is a great problem to have. Typically in a search like this, it takes you a long time to get that many qualified candidates. But we had those three to choose from, work down through the list and ended up adding the people we needed, with great experience, great skill sets, and a perfect fit for our company. So we're very excited to have them coming on board.

What do you love most about Shortlist?

Dan Bogar: Shortlist is extremely easy to use and there's really four things to me that stand out and differentiate it from other services. First of all, the ability to define the criteria: very simple to do. Very thorough. Asked the right questions, which helped us narrow down the search quite a bit. Secondly, the quick response. Once we gave the criteria, we had qualified candidates ready to be interviewed within several days. It did not take very long and those candidates, and this is the third benefit, which is they were very qualified. Each of the candidates presented to us, even if we chose not to interview them fit our criteria to some degree, were worthy people to at least consider again, which is a huge benefit, not having to sort through a bunch of resumes that just aren't anywhere near a fit. It just eats up time and it is not necessary. And the fourth thing is I really like the direct contact with the candidates. It allows me to speed the process, to control the timing of it, and it got us to a decision point much quicker than we normally would have experienced trying to bring people on board.

Would you recommend Shortlist to others?

Dan Bogar: I would absolutely recommend Shortlist. As a matter of fact, I already have. I was very impressed with the speed, the quality, and the result. I don't think you can beat that. I've just not experienced that with more traditional ways we've gone about sourcing candidates, whether it's through the traditional recruiter route, through job postings on job sites, LinkedIn, other places. So, absolutely would recommend them. It made my job a lot easier finding the right people to bring on board.
