Speaker: Michael woolnough , Director , Mayweather Commercial Services
Introduce yourself, your business and describe how the Service Company Creator has helped you with your business...
Michael woolnough : Hi there, my name is Michael. I'm one of the directors of Mayweather. Um, just wanted to do a quick video today, really to thank Nathan over at the SEC. Um He has helped me since start of the summer this year and we launched a new business of which um Nathan obviously helped with ideas around set up, um sort of target markets insights and we've grown quickly across the summer. He's helped sort of everything from, from operations and marketing was something that we really, really needed some, some help with, um in terms of getting that set up and the best angles to actually, you know, look to attack the market. Um And really bring on new customers, which obviously is important to uh to any business. So really just wanted to, uh to say thank you to Nathan, looking forward to seeing what we can do across the last uh sort of month, two months of 2023. Um and moving into 2024 gonna be a huge year for us. Um So thanks again, Nathan and uh, and looking forward to 24. See you then
Michael woolnough : Hi, my name is Michael, one of the directors of Mayre up, been working with Nathan at the SCC and they've helped us set up a facilities, um, and sort of cleaning services business that we've been operating since, as I say, the start of summer 23 massive help with regards to set up just sort of dodging any initial pitfalls. Um, a service center business is not something that myself, um, had direct experience in. So having someone there to sort of guide and, and assist us through that was massively massively useful.
How did you find initial setup, process and 1-1 calls from the Service Company Creator?
Michael woolnough : My initial set up call with the SEC was, was really useful, as I say, a service business was not something that I had direct experience in, although I have um previously ran my my own businesses. So I think if anything, sometimes I can give you a sort of false sense of confidence when moving into another field. So initially, just that set up call probably helped to steer us away from some things that we were looking at doing initially, um that probably would have come back and bit us in the backside later down the line, um and ultimately cost us money. So in, in that initial call and set up itself, we, we probably have ultimately saved more money than, than what we've actually spent with the SEC, um which was great to sort of see an RO I um as quickly as we did.
How do find the community we have built and continue to grow at the Service Company Creator?
Michael woolnough : The community itself, something that's, that's really useful, I'm sure for anyone out there that has or is thinking about setting up and running your own business, it can be a really lonely place. And especially if it's something that you're setting up yourself as a, you know, as a sole entity or that you will be operating and managing yourself, you know, some, it, it can really feel like there isn't anyone there that understands or, or is in the same boat as you. So to have a community around you of people that are, you know, maybe one month behind six months further forward or just various different stages of their journey, but can understand what it is you're going through. Um For me has been extremely reassuring. Um And as I say, just good there for your victories, but also there for if you're having a tough day just to turn around and, and someone just to say, look, stay strong, stick with it. There is always light at the end of the tunnel um is massively massively useful. So lean on that.
Finally, if you were speaking to someone considering joining the Service Company Creator. What advice would you give them?
Michael woolnough : If someone was thinking of joining the SEC um and working alongside the guys, my, my initial thing would be do it. Um just from a personal perspective, financially speaking, as I said, with our, our sort of set up calls um and just looking to sort of dodge any initial uh potholes or, or things that we could have incurred that that ultimately would have cost us money. And we saw a financial benefit from that. But the community aspect in, in as you're going to be going through a pretty difficult um journey that's full of ups and downs having that support people around you that you can speak to. Um and just having a, you know, an educated ear that you can, you can lean on run ideas by. Um I would say, absolutely go for it, grab it with both hands, but at the end of the day, um as with, with anything like this, you will only get out of it as much as you put in. Um So be prepared to work hard, be prepared to be focused. Um And if you do all of those things, I don't doubt you're gonna see some amazing benefits from working alongside Nathan and the SEC. So um do it and I will speak to you in the community.
