Speaker: Dave, Retired Constable, Northumbria Police
When did you first hear about Serve and Protect Credit Union and why did you join?
Dave: I first heard about the Credit Union via the Police Federation in Northumbria Police. A circular came out on email, if I remember rightly. And I joined straight away. I think I was one of the first 3 or 400 members to join. I've been in ever since. I've had numerous, loans and savings with them, which has enabled us to save for family holidays. Putting money aside that, I didn't touch. And loans from the credit union have paid off outstanding credit card debts. And it's been a great experience.
How has the credit union helped you?
Dave: The credit union has helped us save manage debt, and put money in a place where it's not too easy to withdraw. And spend. So I paid into it straight from my Northumbria Police salary and then my pension. So I never really miss the money. It never gets to me. It goes straight into the credit union. It's a great way of saving. And it's been really, really good for us. Which is why I've been in it for over 20 years.
What is the best thing about being part of the credit union?
Dave: The best thing about the credit union has pretty much been answered by my previous two, excuse the dog, previous two answers. But really it's a way of saving, managing debt and also getting, favourable rate loans for whatever you need. The loans have always been approved for me. They've been quick. They've been fast and the money is straight into your account.
