Speaker: Lila Canary, Operations, Eagle Cargo Services Ltd
Could you introduce yourself, your role, and what led you to choose the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship?
Lila Canary: Hi, my name's Lila Canary, and I work in operations for Eagle Cargo Services. I'm currently in a Level 3 International Freight Forwarding apprenticeship with Seetec, and what led me to choose it is that, it is a good qualification for an industry that has so much to progress, there's so much opportunity to progress in, and because there's not many apprentices in this field, it also gives you a good start for the for a career in Freight Forwarding.
How would you describe your experience working with the Seetec team, and what support has been most valuable?
Lila Canary: I have really enjoyed my sessions with my tutor Clare. I find that she explains everything so clearly, she's always there on an email to help me out. If I have any issues, I will go to her and she will give me a good quick response. I've really enjoyed my experience with Seetec. I really like the assignments which I have to do because I think it is so interesting and also relevant to the day to day work.
What new skills, knowledge, or confidence have you gained during your apprenticeship?
Lila Canary: Doing this apprenticeship was my introduction to the Freight Forwarding industry as a whole. Before this apprenticeship, I didn't really know much about the industry, but now I've done a customs course, I know all about different warehouses and it just gives you that extra knowledge in your day to day work. And it makes you understand the whole industry and how it works as a whole, which could be helpful for any aspect of the industry and it gives you so much knowledge.
What has been your biggest achievement or proudest moment during the apprenticeship?
Lila Canary: So far I would say that my biggest achievement is completing the BIFA customs course which I was put on with Seetec. I also am very proud of all the feedback that I have, received in my, portfolios, and when I've had a professional discussion, I've always got received good feedback. So that's what I'm proud of, and I'm proud of the constant, the checkings and how well, my tutor is telling me I'm doing.
How has this apprenticeship supported your career goals, and what would you say to someone considering it?
Lila Canary: Working with Seetec has given me knowledge of what I do in my day to day, and it's also allowed me to have the knowledge to feel confident in taking on extra roles within my career. If I didn't have all this extra help and all this extra opportunity, I wouldn't be as far as I am now. And it was someone considering going for an apprenticeship with Seetec I strongly recommend going for it. I think the learning style is amazing and yeah, I'm very happy doing this apprenticeship. I think it's helped my career a lot.
