Could you introduce yourself, your role, and what led you to choose the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship?
Darsh Patnia : My name is Darsh I work at Map Cargo Heathrow in the Air Imports department. I chose the level 3 Freight Forwarding apprenticeship because I wanted a career, that combines real world experiences rather than studying in a classroom full-time. I liked the idea of gaining practical skills while working in the industry. Freight forwarding is a very fast pace and a global industry where no two days are ever the same, and I liked the idea of learning how goods move around and understanding the planning, the communication, and the problem, problem solving in international logistics. The apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to develop those skills while working alongside experienced people.
How would you describe your experience working with the Seetec team, and what support has been most valuable?
Darsh Patnia : My experience with working with the Seetec team was really positive, from the beginning. They were very supportive, approachable, and they were always willing to help me whenever I had any questions or needed any sort of guidance. My tutor, Clare she was amazing. Clare made sure I understood what I was learning and how it applies to my role at work. She was very encouraging throughout the apprenticeship. We had regular check-ins and, she give me feedback on my work, which helped me stay on track and it also helped me build confidence.
What new skills, knowledge, or confidence have you gained during your apprenticeship?
Darsh Patnia : Throughout my apprenticeship, I gained a wide range of new skills and knowledge, that helped me grow both personally and professionally. Learning about air, road, and sea freight helped me understand how the industry works. I also improved my communication skills by working with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. I became more confident in problem solving and managing my workload. The apprenticeship taught me the importance of attention to detail. And how to work efficiently as part of a team.
What has been your biggest achievement or proudest moment during the apprenticeship?
Darsh Patnia : My biggest achievement during my apprenticeship was, being able to see how much I've grown in confidence since I started. When I first began, there was a lot to learn about, the Freight Forwarding industry, but through the support of my employer, Map Cargo, Seetec and Clare I developed the knowledge and practical skills to take on more responsibility in my role.
How has this apprenticeship supported your career goals, and what would you say to someone considering it?
Darsh Patnia : This apprenticeship has given me a solid foundation, for a career in International Freight Forwarding. I've gained valuable knowledge, and practical experiences that I use every day in my role. It's helped me understand how the industry works and has opened up opportunities for me to continue developing, and progressing in my career. To anyone considering this apprenticeship, I definitely recommend it. It's a great way for you to gain hands-on experience while earning a recognised qualification. You'll learn from experienced professionals and develop skills that are relevant to the industry, build a strong platform for your future career, and it's really rewarding and I'm, glad I chose this pathway.
