Speaker: Dr. Tara Scott

Hi, I'm Doctor Tara Scott. And I am so happy to be coming to this month to speak about my favorite topic, which is hormones. I'm an OB-GYN by trade. Spent many years in the traditional space and soon saw a need for someone to specialize in hormones. It seemed like there was a lot of things that we could do to get someone pregnant and maybe a little bit of menopause but nothing to do in between. So, I became a Certified Menopause Practitioner and then I did my training through A4M in Functional Medicine and got a third Board Certification Integrative Medicine. And I've really made hormones my niche for the last 10 or 15 years. Now, I was actually in practice when the WHI came out in 2002. So it's been years of trying to unwind this literature and I feel like there's a lot of chatter and there's a lot of different, options and a lot of different opinions out there. So, what I'm going to concentrate on, what does the evidence say? What do the studies say? What are the actual risks and benefits and alternatives of hormone therapy? How can you properly consent your patients to take hormone therapy? How can you pick the right patient to give hormone therapy to and what can we count on hormones doing for the patient? Hopefully, we'll even have time to get in a little into monitoring hormones therapy as well. So I can tell you that as a traditionally trained OB-GYN, I don't feel like we get any train training and hormone. So no matter what your discipline is, it's probably not well touched upon. So, join me and we will dig through the literature, the physiology, the science, and hopefully you'll walk away feeling much more confident and comfortable with hormones.
