Robert C. Tasker, MA, MBBS, MD, FRCP, RCPCH: Welcome. My name is Robert Tasker and I'm your Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. October 2024, another interesting read and great issue. We have three Editor's Choices each with their own editorial. The first is about academic trajectories and career pathway by gender. This is looking at those who are in employment from 2021. Wai et al. look at the rank of each individual and the publication history. The second choice is about medical interventions and end of life. This is a single center cluster analysis of some 950 hospital deaths, 2013 to 2021, by Liesse et al. There are five trajectories and I'm sure each of you will be familiar with those trajectories. But there's a very interesting editorial that goes with this. The third Editor's Choice is about skin tone bias and pulse oximetry. This is a post hoc analysis of the Oxy-PICU study dataset. 1,500 of the over 2,000 recruits were included in this study. Jones et al. look at ethnicity and pulse oximetry results. In the other two sections which are both educational, the PCCM Connections section. This is about parents' mental health needs. There are three articles in this month's journal. Screening pilot data using iPhone or phones, structured interviews, seeking adverse childhood experiences in parents and that relationship to their child's outcome post PICU. The third article is about acute on chronic social risk. In the other educational section, PCCM International, there's a brief introduction of other papers to look at and then the focus is a paper in this month's issue on thoracic CT scans in 290 patients aged 3 to 16 years, 14 different metrics analyzed and looking at optimal chest compression point for CPR. So all in all, a very interesting read this month and I hope to see you next month. Thank you.
