Aarti Sarwal, MD, FAAN, FNCS, FCCM: Hello, I'm Aarti Sarwal, the Social Media Editor of Critical Care Medicine. Here are my favorite reads from the November issue of CCM. The first article is a systematic review and meta analysis by Basmaji and the group that evaluated 18 RCTs comparing POCUS guided resuscitation with usual care in patients with shock. They evaluated if POCUS changed therapeutic decision making of healthcare providers, whether POCUS impacted resuscitative therapies, including the vasopressors , fluids or diagnostic studies and eventually patient outcomes. Quite a timely review, anticipating the SCCM guidelines on adult critical care ultrasonography. Second article is by the Telecritical Care Collaborative Network with best practices related to the use of telemedicine in critical care. An oversight panel of 18 multidisciplinary members developed statements in 10 domains. They used a modified Delphi methodology to get feedback from 32 invited experts. Three rounds of votes and feedback led to 78 consensus statements on various aspects of telecritical care delivery With increasing adoption of telemedicine platforms, these statements can guide future healthcare system research in telecritical care. There are also many other articles and thoughtful editorials worth checking out. Lastly, look out for a surprise in the December issue. Stay well and happy reading CCM.
