Leadership: What are the key issues that leaders need to be paying attention to impact their system to serve families better?
Gilbert Domally: Key issues that leaders need to be paying attention to impact their systems and to better serve families are organizational culture, leadership and staff development, particularly in terms of building a culture of reflective practice. Social work, child protection work in general. there's a lot of opportunities to, to be reactive and to be constantly in 'go' mode. And the danger of that when that's the culture of the agency is there's a risk of doing harm, but also missing opportunities to learn from our experiences, opportunities to capitalize on growth areas. And so again, I think it's critical leaders will need to function on, I mean, focus on organizational culture. It's hard to promote well being in the lives of families and to deliver services in a way that support well being when the organizational culture isn't manifesting well being. And so that takes a, a level of intentionality, a level of focus, a level of engagement that leaders have to pay attention to in the times that we're living in.
