Speaker: Ryan Kershaw, Account Executive, Litmus Automation
Can you tell us more about you and your professional experience/educational background?
Ryan Kershaw: Hi, my name is Ryan Kershaw. I'm an account executive with Litmus Automation. Prior to that I spent 20 years in the instrumentation controls industry. In ISA, I currently work with the the Smart Manufacturing IOT Technical Division. Previously, I was a district vice president for District 13. I've also been a vice president for the Canadian Process Control Association. On the educational side, of course is all over the place, sales manufacturing technology, you name it. I've got a BBA from Yorkville University and they got my cap from ISA about a year or so ago.
How did you become familiar with ISA? What led you to contribute to the development of ISA’s Digital Transformation Training Series?
Ryan Kershaw: So I've been involved with ISA for about 15 to 20 years. I started out in the section side with ISA Toronto moved up through District 13 as the district vice president there, which got me involved with some of the international aspects of ISA. And then with the changing jobs, moved more into the technical division side of things, started working with S.M.I.O.T. And then I got involved with the Digital Transformation training series through a general by the name of Jeff Winter really saw it as a potential area where contribute, learn more, especially about this new industry that I'm in. And kind of help out as I can.
Who is this series well-suited for, and what should students expect to learn?
Ryan Kershaw: It can be kind of difficult to determine who this is for specifically. You know, I think this is a major shift in the way that we do manufacturing. So yeah, there's a lot of technical that's a very big technical aspects within this course, but you know, I think those, even those that aren't in the technical side of things that really need to understand the changes that are happening to the industry and how they can kind of apply those changes to how they do business on a day to day basis. I can really benefit from this in this course. You know, we're going to look at everything from, you know, the technical aspects, what we're seeing from the technical side of this change, but also we're gonna look at some of the, look into the past a little bit. You know, how the technology is really affected the world around it. Whenever we've gone through these changes before. We'll also look at, you know, the role that you might play within this sort of a transformation and how you can be more effective in that role.
What value does this series provide, and how does it differ from other training in the market today?
Ryan Kershaw: This course work is really going to take a look at the holistic view of the digital transformation aspect of industry form. This is important, and this is where we end up differing from many other courses are out there. Other courses really are going to focus on one aspect or so. Maybe some will look at the technical aspect of digital transformation, you know, good coding, moving data from A to B. Others might look at maybe some of the management change management side of things. This course pack is really going to look at everything from coding to the organizational side of things and when we look at industry for the changes that it's bringing into the market, this is an extremely important part of what's happening right now. Being able to understand how the changes in the shop for going to affect the overall organization can really have a big impact on how things are developed.
