How did you get started as pharmacy tech?
Kristen Snair: I got started as a pharmacy technician when I was 16 years old, long before there was regulations and licensure for technicians in Arizona, and I was hired to be a cashier in the front of the store, but I would, the pharmacy looked far more interesting to me, and there's so much to learn. I had so many questions and so I convinced the owner that he needed to hire me as his first technician.
What has helped you advance into your current role?
Kristen Snair: What has helped me to advance in my career role today, I would say is mentorship. I've had great mentors along the way and being a mentor has also helped me. I think both are beneficial. I say yes and raise my hand to volunteer to do. Multiple projects and I've learned something from every project that I've been a part of. I love to get involved and I think that really can easily be done through both state and national associations. Those are the perfect place to, to get involved and to grow your career.
What advice would you give to someone entering the pharmacy technician field?
Kristen Snair: My advice that I would give to someone entering the pharmacy technician field is. That they should get to know other pharmacy technicians and encourage each other. Also understand that it's not just a job. This is a career that has many opportunities. So constantly be learning because there's so many different ways that you can shape your career.
