Speaker: Tobias from Germany, Selkirk Secondary School, Grade 11

Why did you choose Rocky Mountain International Student Program for your study abroad experience?

Tobias from Germany: I chose RMISP for my stay abroad because um, my brother recommended it to me. He did the same thing just in another town, and he taught me all about the nice field trips and that the skiing was awesome and that you learned about English. And so I decided to do it, too. Yeah.

What do you like best about the community you live in?

Tobias from Germany: what I really like about the community right here is that Kimberly has a nice trail system, so like the bike trails are really nice for downhill biking and um you can hike a lot right here. And another thing I really like here is that The Ski Hill is very close, so it's just like a 10 minute drive there and it's very easy to ski on the weekends, there are even busses, so it's really easy to get there. And I really like what I also really like is that in this small town everybody knows everybody. So if you go in the city you meet a lot of people, you know, and that's very different to Germany and I really like that here.

What do you like best about your school?

Tobias from Germany: What I really like about my school here is that we have a lot of school teams so you can join a lot of different um uh sport activities. And I also like that the teachers are very friendly here and that the stuff we do in general and the school is pretty easy in like comparison to what we do in Germany.

What do you like best about your homestay?

Tobias from Germany: So what I really like about my home stay here is that my family's very active. So they go camping, hiking, biking in the summer and in the winter they do a lot of skiing too. And what I also like is that I have two host brothers here. Um, I do a lot of stuff with them and yeah, I really like that. Okay.

What has been the best part of your experience with Rocky Mountain International Student Program?

Tobias from Germany: So the best part of the experience with the Rocky Mountain International Student program was definitely the, the trip to Blue Lake. Um, we did ice fishing right there. We were snowshoeing, we learned how to make a fire, and that was really fun.
