Why did you choose Rocky Mountain International Student Program for your study abroad experience?

Luca and Paula from Germany: Hi. So I chose the Rocky Mountains International Student Program as my program because I feel I've felt very supported from the beginning and I had the feeling that like when I would have a problem, I had somebody to talk to so I wouldn't feel alone. And that was like one of my fears before, um, the whole exchange. So it was like, okay, there is somebody where I can talk to. So it's very good for me. Yeah. And they also offer many activities together with all the international so you could connect with them and get in touch. So you get to know each other and it was a very nice thing. Exactly.

What do you like best about the community you live in?

Luca and Paula from Germany: So I like best about the community I live in that everybody's supporting each other. So my host family is very, very nice and they're supporting me in every way they can. So my friends support me in every way they can. So, um we do stuff together when I have a problem. I have somebody to talk to. Um it's kind of funny. So you have a funny time too. So it's not just like the supporting point, it's like you have fun together and yeah, have a good time. Yeah. And they also, when you first get there, they show you everything and help you and show you all the city and the things so you are not alone. So they help you and do everything that you feel comfortable. Exactly. And another point which is very important for me is that it's like the honesty here. So everybody's like honest and yeah, talks very clear about their feelings. Yes.

What do you like best about your school?

Luca and Paula from Germany: Okay, so my favorite about the school is definitely um foods. So a new class for me and for her, too like we have new classes we would never have in Germany, so like it's very different but I really, really like that because it's different and you can like get to know other things and and they also offer so many sports and activities you can join like clubs and sports so you can go there and yeah trying new things. So that's very nice and they are also very helpful. So like the principal explained everything, the school system, the subject and everything so we felt comfortable and knew how it works. Exactly. And that was my host sister. Yeah.

What do you like best about your homestay?

Luca and Paula from Germany: Okay, so my absolute favorite about my host family is that everybody's honest. So we talk about everything. So when they have problems or I have problems and not like with each other, but like in general, in the private life, I just love that. I just love that honesty and that, you know, okay, I can talk to you. I can't really explain it. It's just like, it's the connection, like I have a very, very good connection with my host family and I really, really love them. Like it's like, it's like a second family and yeah, yeah. And that you're not alone. Like, like she said you can talk to them and they said you're you're not alone here, we are your family. So you can talk to us about anything. And also I like that they are so like active and spend so much time with us and like take us with them for any activity they do. That's very nice. Exactly. So now we're on Vancouver Island with my host family. So this is like, like we do trips, we do like different things to do. So it's very they even offered to take me and I'm not like their host student. So that's very kind of them. Exactly, yeah. Oh

What has been the best part of your experience with Rocky Mountain International Student Program?

Luca and Paula from Germany: okay, so my absolute favorite in this time we had here is definitely like the Blue Lake Camp. So we went on a trip with like all the exchange students and yeah it was kind of fun to meet like other students from Fernie and Sparwood I think. And um yeah it was very much fun like there wasn't mobile service but it was, it was good for me because like sometimes I'm a bit often on my phone, it's like ok, oh God just breathe and then you you like had to talk to them so you can't like distract yourself. So that was very nice and it was very good for our friendship too this trip here too because now we are on Vancouver Island and it's such a nice trip. And another thing I like very much is that we could go to the hockey games like now the season is over but there you could meet so many new people and talk to them and just watching the hockey game was so much fun. That was so nice. Exactly, so this is like good to make Canadian connections to you because you meet Canadian students from your school, from your grade and you like you start to talk with them and it's it's very good for your connections
