Why are you a Reproductive Justice Voter?
Cynthia J Finch: Good morning. My name is Cynthia Finch. I am the Executive Director of New Directions Healthcare Solutions in Knoxville, Tennessee. Now, the question is why are you a reproductive justice voter? Why not? We should have an opportunity to as women, as women to speak for ourselves in our city of Knoxville. In 2021 our Knoxville reproductive building and programs and services was burnt to the ground by a man in Jefferson City because of his decision to be against women's choice. But what people don't know, they don't listen, they don't listen because this program does much more than just do the abortions and all it was providing health services for women in a community that is disproportionately impacted by all the injustices, access information, all the things that cause us as women to have to step back. Ask the question about why are others trying to make decisions for us? So, I am a true supporter of reproductive justice voters in our great state of Tennessee. Now, we have a leadership that is predominantly Republican. This has caused it to go way to the left and we cannot get anything less in our, in our state. Of Tennessee that is all about choice and women's choice. So, here I am Cynthia Finch at this conference Power Rising and I am talking about reproductive justice voters.
How does Reproductive Justice show up in your life?
Cynthia J Finch: How and why has reproductive justice showed up in my life when I was 18 year old attending college and I had a miscarriage and I didn't know what to do as a young person. It was the very reproductive health center that came to my rescue. My parents came down all the way from rural Tennessee, not knowing what was going on with me and me, not knowing, knowing what was going on with me, my own personal life. So I say to the center there in our city at that time, thank you for providing me service. Thank you for educating me. That calls me to say this is uh a need. And now we have people. They don't listen. That is a big thing. They don't listen. And because of not listening, they do not have the understanding that the rights of reproductive health is the person's right. It's our right to have my own personal story.
