How do you actively promote resource-efficient homes?
Betsy Littrell: Most of my active promotion of resource efficiency is in stride with a very high touch level of service that I give to my clients um where they're shopping for homes, looking to make improvements to their existing home and curious how resale that will affect resale energy bills, comfort, indoor air quality, or whether they're making big picture plans for a future custom home. A lot of my information is contextual to their needs at the time. More generally than that, I do use social media, primarily Instagram, to share candid, timely feedback and sneak peeks into projects I'm working on, clients I'm working with, and things they're going through. And other big ideas there.
What is your favorite aspect of being part of the sustainable housing movement?
Betsy Littrell: My favorite thing about being involved with the sustainable housing movement is just the amount of impact I can have on people's lives and the environment as a whole. I love saying, I love to help people vote with their dollar for a world they want to live in. Collectively our world has been shaped how we've been spending money for a long time and the businesses and industries we've been supporting and if we want to see a different world, we have to vote with our dollar in different ways. So as people become more informed about how their money is being spent and either the benefits or problems that come along with those realities, I love empowering folks to help shape their world with their dollars. The built environment costs a lot of money and green homes and local food production. Collectively, those solutions have a huge opportunity to make big impacts and make a better, healthier, more socially and environmentally just world around us. So I am just really excited about the impact that I can have. I have a lot of clients and friends that are frustrated and or feel helpless about what they can do to help impact their environment and shape their lives and equipping them with knowledge and information is a great start in helping them help change the world
