Speakers: Jan Jedlinsky, Metro II Realty • Columbus, OH
How many years have you been a GREEN designee, and what inspired you to earn the designation?
Jan Jedlinsky: I happen to be married to an environmental engineer. So I've been around the green sustainable conversation most of my married life, which has been a while, and when I got my real estate license in the 2000s, I decided to get my GREEN Designation so that I could learn more about the details of sustainability and green as it pertains to houses. I got my GREEN Designation in 2017, and I actually use it as a conversation starter for my clients, so they know that I am a knowledgeable trusted advisor when it comes to the topic of sustainability and green.
How do you actively promote resource-efficient homes?
Jan Jedlinsky: Yeah. When marketing green energy efficient homes, there are three things that I like to do first is I want to use the green features that are in the MLS, which I am lucky enough to have and they're pretty complete. Secondly, I want to make sure that in the description of the property, I use the green features as the first part of that description. And then the last thing is I want to do a video that not only people can see, but they can hear and they can understand how this feature is important to them and what value it will add.
