Speaker: David Loomis, Fire Captain / EMS Coordinator, Ontario Fire Department
Please introduce yourself. Describe your agency and the community you serve.
David Loomis: Hi, my name is David Loomis, I'm a Fire Captain assigned to the Ontario Fire Department here in southern California. The community I serve is an urban environment, we will respond to approximately 23,000 calls a year.
What solution(s) did you use before PSTrax? What challenges were you having?
David Loomis: So the primary use, that got us started with PSTrax was for tracking narcotics from cradle to grave. Once we got PSTrax going, we've used every module, except for inventory. And it's actually something we're looking into now. It's allowed us to track assets. It's allowed us to track turnouts, medical equipment. It's been really helpful for the off going crews and ongoing crews to communicate using our message board features. And the alert function has been really good for us to recognize something that's critical and address it quickly.
Why was PSTrax the right fit? How are you using it at your agency?
David Loomis: So PSTrax for us was the right fit because it really met our needs best for that narcotic tracking function. The awesome thing, though, is we've ended up using all of the modules like I talked about, we're looking into bringing the inventory one online specifically for tracking supplies and usage on rigs. But, at the end of the day, the vehicle and station function, tracking, turnouts, tracking high dollar high value items within the assets portion, radios. All of those things have been really good and it's truly been a benefit to our department.
What's the best thing about PSTrax? What specific results have you achieved?
David Loomis: So I would say the best thing about PSTrax is honestly the customer service, everything from the demos and the demo site that we were shown to the responsiveness has been awesome. The kind of the icing on the cake. The benefit though for us is that we have a way to track inventory, narcotic usage, turnouts, maintenance, all of those things that we were using paper before and then we get lost or misfiled. We all have a database that we can access and utilize it. So it's it's been awesome for our department. We've seen really good results in terms of equipment checks, maybe finding issues that weren't there or that no one was notified of. So it's been super useful.
Would you recommend PSTrax? And why?
David Loomis: So I think this is definitely the easiest question to answer. Absolutely would recommend PSTrax It's been so helpful. Such a benefit. We're actually getting real data too, and that's something that before we had a paper check sheet, that paper check sheet we get sent into admin, admin would put in a file, next year that file would be purged. So the fact that we actually have data that we can access that we can pull from its huge. The benefits from PSTrax have been awesome for us.
