How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?
Amelia Fernández Rodríguez: Hi, my name is Amelia Fernandez Rodriguez and I'm a student, climate activist in Denver, Colorado. I care about climate change because the Earth is a gift given to us and this gift is keeping us alive and the least we can do to repay her is to protect her. Some places on earth have become inha uninhabitable because of climate change. So my purpose is to ensure a livable future for not only myself but for all of my generation as a student, I got involved with a student led organization that aimed to pass a climate action policy followed by a climate action plan in our school district, Denver public schools. Um We ended after two years of campaigning, we passed this policy in April of 2022 and we ended up getting national attention with the vice president, Vice President Kamala Harris coming to this school. Um And since we passed the policy, um I've been working to educate other students in other school districts about how they can replicate us. Thank you.
