Speaker: Javier Camarasa Garcia, Switzerland
How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?
Javier Camarasa Garcia: Hello, I'm Javier. I'm based here in Switzerland. I'm a professional coach and also I'm the founder of a few small startups. So, 4 years ago, I, I, I read the book Drawdown and then I, I was really interested on the topic. I was doing a little bit more of research with other books, talking with uh some people uh about it um and looking to different sources. And then I decided that I wanted to support a specific solutions. And I found it difficult. I found it difficult to try to find what is the best solution, what is the best organization. So I decided to create a small community, which is in short a website, and in this small community, in this website, uh, now we have a specific packages. This community is for individuals, it's for small groups, it's for companies. So no matter what, you can join us. And what you will find there is that the package that we have has been evolving over time. As I mentioned, I started with this 4 years ago and over the years we have been evolving the packages to try to find the most cost-effective uh organizations and solutions. At the moment, we are supporting um the protection of rainforests. We are supporting the research in the permafrost and also we are supporting the research in proteins. We do believe that's the, the solutions that are more uh cost-effective at the moment. Uh, of course, these things may evolve over time. So our package evolved as we learn more, and we do more research and so forth, and as we get feedback. So that's what we do, that's what they do at the moment. Um, and I just wanted to share it with all of you. Hopefully, you, you want to do something similar. If that's the case, please join us. Thank you.
Who or what inspires/inspired you to care about climate change and climate solutions?
Javier Camarasa Garcia: So yeah, as I mentioned before, I, I read the book draw down and I read other books. I, I read the book from Greta and I read a few others. Um, I don't remember right now, but there was one from this lady from the United Nations, um, something Gutierrez, if I don't remember wrong, I found it also really inspiring and, and few others. Um, And yeah, this inspired me a lot, um, and then I have been also reading blogs from different people, watching videos, uh, watching movies, uh, and so forth, um. And yeah, this inspired me to, to try to do something about it. Um, I think that the work done by the drawdown is amazing. Uh, we base a lot of our work in, in the, in all the information that you can find in, in the drawdown website. Um, this has been definitely a source of inspiration for us and a source of the work that we are doing, uh, in our community. Uh, but also we, we are looking to, to other sources. We are also talking with other people and also we talk with a specific, uh, organizations that we donate, uh, that they work in a specific solutions and also we talk with them, we exchange emails with them, uh, and. We joining them with vines as well and we learn from them, um. So there are so many people that inspire us, people that are working in new technologies. We were working with them in the past. Now we are not that focused on those, but we found them inspiring as well. Uh, at the moment, the ones that we find more inspiring, uh, scientists working in the permafrost, um, people that are working in trying to protect the rainforest, and also people that are trying to do some researching, in terms of, um, uh, proteins. Thank you.
