How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?

Daphne Prodis: Hi, my name is Daphne Produs, and I am in Santa Barbara, California. Um, I work for a climate nonprofit organization. Um, and how I'm taking climate action is through many ways in my life, but, um, one that I'm talking about today is choosing a plant-based diet. And um making these little choices on a daily basis to really avoid red meat, um, particularly beef, um, which has an outsized impact on the environment on a global scale. Um, but I'm actually on an individual scale, I really believe in it as well. And I think it influences those around me, um, friends, family, um, and then talking about this as well does make a difference. And, In that, I also um try to reduce my food waste, always leave eating leftovers and really valuing and appreciating what I already have in my fridge or pantry, and um not over buying or over um consuming in that way. Um, and yeah, really educating family and friends about um this issue as well is a big part of it, and I'm proud to be doing it.

Who or what inspires/inspired you to care about climate change and climate solutions?

Daphne Prodis: Hi, my name is Daphne Produs, and I'm in Santa Barbara, California, and I work for a uh climate nonprofit organization. And um who or what inspired me to care about climate change and climate change solutions. Um, that would have to be back when I was um an early teenager and um, I had, there was a local aquarium in my hometown that really focused on conservation efforts and rehabilitation of um wildlife and ocean creatures, but also just highlighted the absolute beauty and wonder of um Ocean creatures. And that really struck a chord with me as a kid. And um I think really uh inspired me to pursue a career in this field. And I studied environmental studies in college that led me there. And then now, um, a career in the environmental sciences, where now I have the chance to inspire others to care about climate change and climate change solutions. So. Really grateful for that. Thanks.
