Speaker: Aidan Liu, Brookfield, Wisconsin

How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?

Aidan Liu: Hello, my name is Aidan Liu, and I'm in and I'm a senior from Brookfield, Wisconsin in the United States. So, I am taking action on climate change solutions through developing research to analyze disparities in socioeconomic factors and temperature changes across the United States. So why did I do this? First off, I'm an incredibly passionate climate advocate. I created my own school gardening club in my freshman year to demonstrate my persistence to raising awareness in my school about this growing problem. Secondly, I'm also an avid writer. I publish articles in my school newspaper that cater towards sustainability and environment and the and the preservance of our environment. I want to make sure the message can be spread as much as possible.

Who or what inspires/inspired you to care about climate change and climate solutions?

Aidan Liu: So, the main people who inspired me to care about climate change and solutions were the food service team in my school district, the Elmer School District. Throughout my 3 years of collaborating with them, by far the most inspiring moment had to be when we worked together on research to develop solutions to hydroponic units underperforming in terms of product yield. I think it was this experience that really, you know, changed me as a person. I think working with these more experienced people really grew my horizons and allowed and allowed me to see how much potential there is for environmental change within our society.
