Speaker: Paris, New Zealand

How (and why) are you taking action on climate change solutions in, for, and with your community?

Paris: Hi, my name is Paris and I'm from New Zealand and currently I'm a founder of a virtual closet app. So why did I actually came to that idea? Um One of the things that came for me is the fact that I realized that life is not really that great. Now, climate change is everywhere. And so I've been looking at companies and understanding why they existed and why are they contributing to this issue? And one interesting situation is the fact that the way that the world is set up, the companies have to produce and overproduced if let's say they need to succeed and be able to provide money for the shareholders. So I'm thinking, is there a way for me to create something that is focused on demand, over consumption? So when I look at that, I basically thinking, what particular areas could I look at? And I discovered the fash industry. How did I come to that? Well, my wife itself actually went on to Japan to basically buy a shirt for me last year. And during my birthday, she said, hey, could actually wear it. I was like, are you sure you brought it to New Zealand. So he has to ship from Japan to Malaysia to Singapore and then to New Zealand. And she said, yeah, I did, I went in the back of my drawer and I have to pull up everything and I saw a photo shoot. This shirt was basically pack in a way where it is just newly bought. He has a new smell and none of the stickers were removed. And so I realized I have a problem where I have too many clothes. And so I think people might have a symp and that's where the virtual closet came about and hoping that everybody shop within their closet.
