Speaker: Ryan Tollofson
Ryan Tollofson: Hello, my name is Ryan Tollofson and I'm the Director of Emerging Communications at TELUS.
What will you be discussing at Product Marketing Summit Toronto?
Ryan Tollofson: I'm delighted to be joining the panel on product positioning while at the summit this year, and I picked this topic because product positioning is near and dear to my heart, because it's audience based, understanding who you're trying to speak to, what you're inspiring them to do and why they should care about your product or service. I think that connection and the ability for a product marketer to be able to make that connection is a very cool and exciting and interesting trait and a skill.
If you could share one piece of advice to product marketers who are just getting into the industry, what would it be?
Ryan Tollofson: The advice that I would give to any product marketer starting out in their career I think is really twofold. 1. Is to really ask a lot of questions of your customer, of your fellow team members of your product developers and to be really curious. I think the secret of being a good product marketer is to be curious. Um, in the same vein, I would also really build your network. I think the PMA Is great for that. I mean we are takes a bit of a village to build an industry and to build a product and um, we are only going to be as good as what we can learn from other people. So don't be shy, even if it's not your forte and build a network. Ask questions and get yourself out there. So the good news is that you've already made the first step by coming to the summit.
