Speaker: Trashaun Powell , HELLP syndrome survivor

Why is it important that Black moms are included in preeclampsia research?

Trashaun Powell : It is important that Black mothers are included in the preeclampsia research to really acknowledge the impact that the Black maternal health crisis has had on Black women. In particular, Black women are seven times more likely to die from complications of pregnancy than their white counterparts. It's important to include the voices and lived experiences of Black mothers who have experienced preeclampsia.

Why does preeclampsia research matter?

Trashaun Powell : Preeclampsia research matters, it informs action, funding, change. And with this research, we envision a world where hypertensive disorders of pregnancy no longer threaten the lives of mothers and their babies.

Trashaun Powell : I'm all in to take 10.
