Speakers: Julianna Morgan, Postpartum Preeclampsia Survivor
Tell us: "I want everyone to know about preeclampsia (and/or HELLP syndrome) because..."
Julianna Morgan: I want everyone to know about preeclampsia because it can happen to anyone. It doesn't matter your age. It doesn't matter how healthy you think you are, it doesn't matter your genetic makeup or how you look. Um, preeclampsia can come out of nowhere. And so I think it's important that not only pregnant women are informed about it, but those around them who can pay attention to them. Um, pregnancy is a very tough journey to go through alone. And there's many times when a pregnant woman just doesn't realize the different things that are going on with her body or she does, but she doesn't feel comfortable enough to speak up. So I think it's important that everyone knows about preeclampsia so that they are aware when they are around pregnant women. When they are caring for pregnant women that they look out for symptoms, they look out for signs and they can potentially help save a child and a mother.
