Speaker: Aaron McBride, Diagnostic/Interventional Radiology Resident, Cleveland Clinic

How did you hear about PracticeMatch?

Aaron McBride: I first heard about PracticeMatch through an email, advertising, a virtual career fair coming up.

What has been the biggest benefit of joining our physician ambassador program?

Aaron McBride: Probably the biggest benefit that I've seen of joining the program as a physician ambassador has been the incentive to attend virtual career fairs every month. Sometimes it's been career fairs outside of the geographic region that I originally considered. And so, for example, right now I'm considering a job in Tennessee and originally I had only planned on out west. And so it's really opened the door to a lot of different opportunities that I had originally anticipated.

How has PracticeMatch helped prepare you for your career journey?

Aaron McBride: PracticeMatch really helped me prepare for my career journey by thinking early on about what I wanted. And so as I'm entering my fellowship and last year as a residency, I can think about what do I really want to be reading for diagnostic radiology? What kind of procedures do I want to do for an interventional radiology? So I can make sure that I'm getting the training that I want to start looking for the jobs as they appear.

What would you say to a colleague that is interested in becoming a physician ambassador?

Aaron McBride: When I say to a colleague who's interested in becoming a physics ambassador, I actually talked to a colleague about two days ago that was interested in becoming an ambassador. If you're not trying to sell anything, you don't have to feel like you're taking advantage of your colleagues or anything. You're just sharing positive experiences that you've had. Like, I've seen a lot of benefits from a PracticeMatch and getting an early look at the field of jobs. And so you're just sharing your experience and just like you share brownies with someone because you like the brownies and if they like them, they might share the recipe with others. It's the same thing. You're not selling anything, it's just helping others.
