Pharus Training: Youth MHFA Video Testimonial

Video Transcript

Speaker: Faith Andewa

Introduce yourself, job role, organisation and name of the course you attended.

Faith Andewa: My name is Faith and I am a sales marketing professional. I attended the Youth Mental Health First Aid Training, the one that goes for two days.

What was one of the most impactful takeaways?

Faith Andewa: My biggest takeaway has been, uh, learning how to respond to mental health issues from the youth. Because most of the time, uh, we are not in a position to help because we do not know how to approach the situation. So for me, ALGEE has been the biggest, um, take away from this course. Now, when I'm faced with any any mental health issues, uh, among the youth that I deal with, I'm in a position to know how to approach them, to know how to to to to know what to do, to know how to listen, to know how to direct, to know how to, uh, recommend help and get them help.

What made this course different from others you’ve attended in the past?

Faith Andewa: Uh, this course is different from the ones I have done before because first of all I have taken, it's like I have been on a journey. A journey of introspection. A journey of trying to understand, uh, the mental health issues that affect our youth and even me as a person. I have been able to reflect and go back into my younger self to be able to see how whatever situations I encountered then are affecting who I am now. And to mirror that to the youth and be able to get into the mental space that they are in and to be able to create a safe space for the youth and to be able to just promote and make sure that they are, um, healthy. Uh, they are, They are, they are healthy mentally. So this this this course has been life changing for me. I am now well equipped to handle any mental issues and and and and direct, uh, the youth and make sure they have gotten help and and and and create a safe space for them around me.

If you could use ONE word to describe your learning experience with Pharus Training, what would it be and why?

Faith Andewa: Uh, in one word I can describe the learning experience with Pharus Training as insightful. I have gotten a lot of information that I didn't have. I have gotten a lot of, uh I have gotten to unpack uh, so many things that I I didn't know about or rather I knew, but I took very casually. Now I am, um I have a better understanding of our mental issues and everything that goes on around mental issues, especially in relation to the youth. Also, uh, I have enjoyed the experience because the delivery was quite on point. The facilitator, uh, was quite engaging I enjoyed the the whole process of training, and, uh, the training was seamless and quite engaging and just the best!
