Speaker: Kevin McKinley & Noah Slater
How would a $5,000 grant improve your program?
Kevin McKinley & Noah Slater: Well, first a big thank you for even the opportunity to be up for the Community Choice Grant. At First Tee we like to teach the game of golf. No question. But we feel like we can teach life lessons with golf and we can actually create great human beings with golf. So two major initiatives that we would do that we would utilize this money for one hire more staff. You have a story. I know coach Noah about that. But the second one is to create some camp programs in the Gaylord area. Right now, we have week to week programs. We want to create, we wanna still have those, but we want to create camps as well. So let's talk about employees and who we might hire with this money. Absolutely. So a good example I like to think about is this young woman. She was a teenage girl. She came to golf and it was her first time really ever golfing. She wanted to learn how to golf. Towards the end of the week, I started noticing that she was really developing skills and also she was taking a huge interest. So I kind of floated the question to her. Hey, would you like to coach with us? And, she said yes immediately and she was amazing for us all summer and I found out later that it was her first job. So this was a really cool moment for her to be a part of this and get her first job experience as well. Fantastic. So we've made good inroads in gaylord with our week to week programs, but talk a little bit about how much a, a camp you can really see progress and you can really see human being, great, human beings being made through a four day camp. Yeah, four day camps are great because you see a lot of progress really quickly, right? So when we have a kid show up who maybe has never held a golf club or maybe is incredibly shy and not confident. By the end of those four days, you see a huge development in their character, but not on not only their character, their golf game as well. And in Brooke's case, we actually saw a future employee out of Brooke. So who knows, we might develop a four day camp in Gaylord and we might be hiring some of your kids there to to work with us and, and give them their first job. So, again, we're thrilled that that we're up for this. We're excited to see you on December 6th at Extreevaganza and we would love your support in helping First Tee develop our area's next amazing leaders. Thank you. Thank you.
