Speaker: Michael M., Office Manager, State Wide Inspection Services
Why did you choose OptimoRoute for your business?
Michael M.: My name is Mike, I run the software for an electrical inspection agency. And pretty much we have 4 different drivers on the road. And their schedules are constantly changing, so we needed a routing program to work for them.
How did you manage route planning before OptimoRoute?
Michael M.: Before we had OptimoRoute, some of the drivers had used Circuit by themselves, and pretty much besides that, we were just using Google Calendar, and they were just kind of jumping, throwing the addresses and the GPS themselves, up to about 15-20 per day.
How has OptimoRoute helped your business?
Michael M.: Because we use 3-hour time frames, OptimoRoute has helped pretty much sending out people that are waiting at the next job, sending them notifications, and picking the fastest route according to the time frame. So it's been very helpful for our inspectors. Also during the day, we have what we call add-ons or inspections that are added on during the day. So it's helpful to have the program, we can just throw in another stop along the route and it automatically adjusts.
How easy is OptimoRoute to use?
Michael M.: OptimoRoute is fairly easy to use. We schedule our system appointments into Google Calendar. And then basically we have our own appointment system that exports all the info into an Excel sheet and we drop that Excel sheet into OptimoRoute.
How important are speed and flexibility for your business?
Michael M.: Speed is very important. Flexibility is very important. Also, we can have somebody call during the day with an emergency stop. And we'll have to put that in, and it has to go in on the fly. Also, we need flexibility because some of our inspectors don't use time frames, so they don't want to have notifications sent out to the customers. They still are old school and would rather call them themselves. So we have the flexibility of doing both options, having them be pre-sent or having them call themselves, which is nice.
