Speaker: Samantha S., Owner, Good Box Organics
Why did you choose OptimoRoute?
Samantha S.: Hi, my name is Samantha. And my company Good Box Organics delivers fruits and vegetables throughout Los Angeles.
How did you manage route planning before?
Samantha S.: My partner, Mark, found OptimoRoute for our business in 2020. The pandemic had just hit and our delivery volume doubled pretty much overnight and we shifted from having a few stops each day to dozens upon dozens. And I could no longer manage doing it manually. I used to just import my addresses into Google Maps and map it out and put little numbers next to each stop and it became completely impossible to do that when we were looking at, you know, 250 stops a day instead of 20. So we found the software and it was such a game-changer to be able to route the whole day or even the whole week in a matter of minutes instead of hours.
How has OptimoRoute helped your business?
Samantha S.: Not only has OptimoRoute saved me time in planning the deliveries for the day, but it saved the drivers' time being able to just hit "Start routing" to the next stop instead of having to look up the address, type it in themselves. And then the customer satisfaction has improved because they get the alerts of, your box has been delivered. And so having more communication with our customers and have it be automated is key. So yeah, it saved us time on the planning end and the driving end and everyone likes it - from the back end to the front end.
How easy is OptimoRoute to use?
Samantha S.: OptimoRoute has been easier to use than I expected. I was scared to dive right into it but my partner assured me it was worth our while and he was definitely right. So I'm glad I listened because it saved us a million hours, and lots of headaches and being able to track where the delivery driver is to give customers up-to-date information and getting confirmations has been really helpful. And there's some great tools in there, like the polygon shape for clustering and re-timing deliveries or switching days of deliveries, flipping the route forward to backward. There's some really key tools that gave me the kind of control that I wanted. But with an overall system that was so much easier than what I was doing before.
How important are speed and flexibility for your business?
Samantha S.: OptimoRoute has really helped us have a much better efficiency on the road. Not spending as much time post delivering the box to sit there and plug in the address, being able to just hit "Complete" and then hit "Start route" to next stop. It's really humongous for time saving when you're talking about 40 to 100 stops a day, if there's a minute at each stop, that's being saved, we're talking at least an hour to two hours a day per driver. And also, having it traceable so that, there have been a few times where a customer said: I didn't get my box. We're able to look at the actual map, route that the driver took and zoom in and show the customer: hey, we were on your street right there, like maybe it's on the left side of the door instead of the right, but take a look because we can see that our driver did make it to your house. So, the traceability has also been a nice factor that we didn't have before.
