Speaker: Jeff Helms, Attorney, The Helms Law Firm
Introduce yourself and highlight a case in which you used OnPoint LNC.
Jeff Helms: I'm Jeff Elms, a lawyer from Homer Bill Georgia. My firm handles mainly medical malpractice and nursing home cases for plaintiffs. I first learned about on point when I asked David Hoey, great trial lawyer from Boston about a particular kind of case I had involving a nursing home resident who was killed due to the bed rails that they had there at the nursing home on the lady's bed. He said, sure you need to speak to somebody at on point, they're gonna be at the seminar in Atlanta with the Keenan group. This weekend, I went to the seminar. I met Ingrid Serov for the first time. She knew exactly the kind of case I was talking about and even had an illustration with the bed and the bed rails and the resonant and how the injury and death occurred. So that's how I first learned about and worked with somebody at on point.
What was the biggest value of using OnPoint LNC?
Jeff Helms: The biggest value of using on point was being able to speak to someone who understood exactly the issues involved in my nursing home case experts that I needed to uh speak to federal regulations that applied and even industry standards to look to in order to uh prepare my case and get it ready to file.
Are you happy with the outcome and quality of the work produced by OnPoint LNC?
Jeff Helms: I have always been very happy with the outcome and quality of the work produced by on point, I consider it to be an essential part of our nursing home practice to get me on the right track or help me understand what the case is all about.
What was the outcome of the case and how did OnPoint LNC strengthen the process?
Jeff Helms: In the very first case I used on point. Uh We got an excellent expert, had a great medical illustration. We filed the lawsuit, defendant filed an answer. We immediately went to mediation. The adjuster flew down uh from their office located out of state had a successful mediation and got the case settled. No problem because by the time we filed the lawsuit, we had the issues, uh standard of care, industry standards, federal regulations. We had all that down and taken care of. I couldn't have done it without the help of on point. In this case.
