Speaker: Rivka Nelson, Director of Education, Congregation Beth El, South Orange NJ

Could you describe a time that Online Jewish Learning helped you?

Rivka Nelson: Hi, my name is Rivka Nelson. I'm the Director of Religious Education for Congregation Beth El in South Orange, New Jersey. We started using Online Jewish Learning about a year and a half ago when we were in the middle of Covid. And they came to our rescue for our grades three through six, and provided online Hebrew instruction, which was great for children to learn in small group settings, plus great for students who needed more of a one on one tutoring situation. We kept them on for this year, even though we're in person because we felt that it really gave our children the chance to really solidify their Hebrew reading and to learn their tefillot and it's just been a very, very positive situation for us.

How would you describe Online Jewish Learning in three words?

Rivka Nelson: I would describe Online Jewish Learning in three words as professional caring and cooperative.

What is something about Online Jewish Learning that makes it unique?

Rivka Nelson: I think what makes Online Jewish Learning unique is the amount of one on one feedback I get from the administration and the teachers for each of my students in my religious school. I find that really, really helpful, and the amount of help that they also give to the parents is very, very helpful. So we really know what is going on, you know, step by step with each child's Hebrew education.
