Speaker: Preston Marshall, Chairman, OnGo Alliance

Describe the improvements that CBRS 2.0 brings to the industry and how it will impact the industry going forward.

Preston Marshall: Hello, I am Preston Marshall. I am Chairman of the OnGo Alliance and also Director of Wireless Standards and policies here at Google. I welcome you to understand more about what we have achieved together with the Federal government in CBRS 2.0, now that it is on its way to launching. CBRS 2.0 represents a culmination of an extensive engineering and validation process with the US government, the Department of the Navy, Department of Defense and many of the members of the OnGo Alliance itself intended to fundamentally change the restrictions on many CBRS operations to such an extent that it will enable all varieties of new use cases to emerge and proliferate in CBRS. The launch of CBRS 2.0 is extremely important for two reasons. First of all, it represents a very significant change in the capability of CBRS to support a diversity of use cases. But secondly, it represents mutual trust between the US government and the CBRS community that has enabled the US government to relax the protection. so significantly with confidence that the CBRS community would comply with these restrictions and would not cause interference. All of you that are part of the CBRS community contributed to achieving this. We were able to demonstrate that CBRS was not only very effective, even disruptive, even under the restrictions that were present in the original regulations. We demonstrated that we were trustworthy stewards of the opportunity for sharing the spectrum. So join me as we go through the process of learning more about these changes and how they can enable a wide variety of users, operators and integrators to create new kinds of networks that never could have been built before.
