Speaker: Lauren Trout, RN

What was going on in your life and career that made you want to join NLCA?

Lauren Trout: My reasons for joining the nurse Life coaching Academy were simple. I hated nursing. I was so done. I was burnt out in every area possible. I was burned out mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, you name it, I was done. I've been a nurse for 17 years. I have done every type of nursing between ER nursing, neurology, oncology, and lastly, I was the director of nursing in an outpatient facility. That was my first mistake, was honestly thinking that I could make a difference becoming a director of nursing. Um, healthcare has gotten so far away from taking care of patients, um, and it's more focused on pleasing the insurance companies and documentation and patient satisfaction surveys, and it becoming all about customer service, where we really have gotten away from taking care of the patient as a whole. Patients come in, they complain of one thing. Here's a pill for this. They want to complain of something else. Here's another pill on top of that. That pill makes them sick. Here's a pill for that. It really has gotten so far away from taking care of actual patients and treating the root cause of any symptom that It was just like checking boxes and you were looked at as like a number on the screen. I honestly was so done with nursing. I was ready to hang up my stethoscope forever and thought, I guess I've wasted 17 years of my life until I found this course. This course has been life changing for me. And it's helped me on a personal level. It's helped me dig deep within myself, and it's helped me see that we can treat the patient as a whole from the inside out. When you're mentally and spiritually and physically well, everything else seems to fall into place. In an era where all we do is spend time on social media, we are so disconnected from human beings, it's getting scary. So being able to connect with people on a real intimate personal level and helping them is what nursing is all about. It's truly treating the patient as a whole, and there isn't anything that Would make me change my mind and make me think that this wasn't going to be beneficial to people. I can see this being the wave of the future. I'm very excited to be a part of it, and I absolutely love what I'm doing and You know, in the world of where everybody can become a coach, this isn't just a weekend or 4 week course, and then automatically you're certified. It's 6.5 months of peer coaching, of pro bono coaching, of live mentoring labs, works, workshops, quizzes, um, all sorts of things that go into this, and it really stands out in the coaching world. Um, you become board certified at the end, um, once you sit for your boards, and you get 121 CEUs, like that's wild to me. So, This is going to be the wave of the future, and I'm so excited to be a part of it and to make a difference in the world, which is why I got into nursing in the first place. It actually makes me excited again. So I am plugging away and I am doing the best that I can, and I can't wait for my life to unfold the way it's supposed to and for me to help the people I'm supposed to help.

What made you say yes to becoming a nurse coach?

Lauren Trout: I said yes to becoming a nurse life coach because I truly believe that this is the way to help people. When you can treat them from the inside out, everything else seems to fall into place. In a world where we are constantly on our phones, we are disengaged from everybody else. We mindlessly scroll. We are so disconnected and people are longing for real, authentic, deep. Relationships, people want to feel seen, they want to feel heard, they want to feel valued, and that is exactly why I got into nurse life coaching. This is the wave of the future.

What has changed for you since certification?

Lauren Trout: Since starting this course, I have profoundly changed. Um, I have become a much better listener. I am more aware and I'm more in tune with people's thoughts and feelings. Um, I care deeper. I'm not so burnt out, and I feel a deeper connection with people. I have grown my in my own personal growth journey. This has been exactly what I have been looking for.

What are you most proud of?

Lauren Trout: I am most proud of myself. I am proud of myself for for taking a different path, for standing up for myself when something wasn't aligned for me and listening to myself. Um, this journey so far has been incredible. I have grown personally. I'm growing professionally and I am growing spiritually and emotionally. I am creating a life that is going to be better for me and my family, and I am holding a vision of abundance for everybody that I help, and I am proud of that.

What would you say to a nurse considering joining Nurse Life Coach Academy?

Lauren Trout: To all the burnt out nurses out there that feel like they have nothing else to give, but don't know where else to turn because you're just a nurse and you don't know what else there is, this is it. I have grown so much both professionally and personally, that this course is worth its weight in gold. You get 121 CEUs, you become board certified should you choose to sit for the boards, um. And it's just a wonderful community of supporting, loving nurses. Um, I would recommend this to anybody. I truly believe that this is the wave of the future and this is honestly what nursing is all about. It's about helping and healing people as a whole, not just as a system, not just as a number, you know, on, on the schedule. This is exactly what nursing is supposed to be. I highly, highly recommend this course.
