Speaker: Kelly M, Director
Kelly M: Um, I've grown so much personally and professionally, um. I've learned more about myself than I expected, and I've met the most incredible group of uh nurses um that all Want to grow,
What was going on in your life and career that made you want to join NLCA?
Kelly M: Um, what was going on in my life and career that made me want to join the NLCA? I was, I am deep in the trenches, uh, as a leader of leaders. I'm a director of nursing in an acute care hospital. Um, Leading amazing nurses and amazing nurse leaders. Who every day do incredible work um in one of the most chaotic, ever-changing healthcare environments uh I've ever seen. I watched a lot of them burning out, struggling, questioning their purpose, um, and just losing the spark that made them want to become nurses in the first place. And Honestly, I Just didn't want to sit back and watch it happen, um. I wanted to help them. I want to be part of the solution to help nurses reconnect with their why, to make them feel empowered and actually enjoy their careers that they worked so hard for without running themselves into the ground, and I wanna, I wanna bring nurse coaching to my organization, um, to healthcare, um, and the nurse Leader coaching Academy. is giving me the tools, um, helping me shift how I think about, um, a lot of things, and then they're also giving me the structure to start making my vision into a reality, um. I just want to help nurses thrive.
What made you say yes to becoming a nurse coach?
Kelly M: What made me say yes to nurse coaching? Uh, honestly, I had been Um, probably low-key stalking the idea, uh, for about a year or two. early on, I had a call with one of the coaches. And I was super excited, but life was crazy, um. With work and. My kids, it just wasn't the right time. So, fast forward to this past fall, um, I think it was November. It was November, December, right before the course was supposed to start, and I talked with Amy, and the second I said the words out loud, it was like something just clicked, um, and it felt right, so I went with that feeling and I signed up, and now I'm halfway through the program, um, and the only thing I thought is I should have done this sooner, um. I finally feel like I'm doing something that Lights me up and um it's helping me help. My nurses light up too.
What has changed for you since certification?
Kelly M: What has changed for me since certification. So, I'm not certified yet. Um, I am still in the middle of the course, uh, but I can already see things shifting in my life, um. I'm seeing things with a different lens, conversations with my nurses, with my nurse leaders, um. Even how I'm able to. Show up for myself at work. Um, I can already feel the impact that having a certification is gonna make, not just for me but for my team. Um, I will be bringing nurse life coaching into the hospital, where it is definitely needed. Healthcare isn't getting any easier, um. But if I can help support the nurses in taking care of themselves, their mindset, um, then I feel like It's not only going to impact the nurses, but everyone that they come in contact with. So I'm super excited for what's to come.
What are you most proud of?
Kelly M: What am I most proud of? I think being a part of the nurse Life Coach Academy. He, it's helped me to see that I'm really proud to be doing something that isn't just about checking boxes or Climbing the ladder or following, um. The typical hospital process, but I'm excited about actually disrupting health care and the way nurses practice in the best way possible. Um And helping nurses heal, grow, and be able to lead with purpose, um. I'm learning how to use coaching, empowerment, and to be able to actually support my nurses and my nurse leaders that goes beyond just tasks, um. I'm proud that I'm able to blend leadership with coaching, um, to focus on mindset, wellness, resilience, um. For all of the, the nurses in the hospital setting. Um, I want to be compassionate and relentless as I disrupt the way we do things.
What would you say to a nurse considering joining Nurse Life Coach Academy?
Kelly M: What would I say to a nurse thinking about joining the nurse Life Coach Academy? I actually just had this conversation today with a nurse friend, uh, and I told her just do it, reach out, um. It's really been one of the best decisions I've made, um, in the past few years, in just a few short months, I think 3 months in. Um, I've grown so much personally and professionally, um. I've learned more about myself than I expected, and I've met the most incredible group of uh nurses um that all Want to grow, um. And really what's the worst that could happen, you end up loving yourself a little more and you feel more aligned with your purpose and who you are, um. It's, it's a whole shift in how you show up for yourself and others. Um, so if you're on the fence, just jump in, um, you won't regret it.
