Speaker: Ryan Marchetti, Vocational Coord.

Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Northern Human Services.

Ryan Marchetti: Hello, my name is Ryan. I'm a vocational coordinator for Northern Human Services. I've been here about 20 years. I started out as a community integrator or direct support staff and then I was a service coordinator, then team leader. Now I'm a voc (vocational services) guy.

What is the best part about living, working and playing in the North Country of New Hampshire?

Ryan Marchetti: The best part about living in the North Country for me is just the peace and quiet I get at my home. My wife and her family are from here. It's nice to be part of a small community. It's nice to know people in my community and interact with them. It's just very comfortable, and people accept me for, for who I am and what I do and it's just a nice, atmosphere to live in.

What does a typical (or not so typical) day look like for you?

Ryan Marchetti: In my role as a vocational coordinator, I would say there's not really a typical day. Sometimes I would start out just visiting a business in the morning and checking on clients who are employed there. Other days I might meet with a client who comes into my office and we go through a resume, see what jobs are available for them, what their interests are. Sometimes I go to introductory meetings or I'm just meeting a client who is interested in getting a job for the first time. Some days I get calls from businesses and I have to go put out a fire somewhere. It really is never the same and that's why I love it so much because there's a lot of, problem solving that I get to do and just I meet and talk with so many people throughout the course of my day and week. And that's why I do it because I love that aspect.
