Speaker: Kristin, Mental Health Targeted Care Coordinator

Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Northern Human Services.

Kristin: Hi, my name is Kristen. I've worked for Northern Human Services since 2012. I started out as a residential advisor at our Verdun Group Home. And then from there I went to functional support specialist at custom services, and then an ACT care coordinator. And now my current role as a targeted care coordinator.

What is the best part about living, working and playing in the North Country of New Hampshire?

Kristin: Things I like about working in the North Country. We live in a remote area and we serve the Berlin, Gorham, Shelburne and Randolph area. And I find that it's easy to provide services to multiple clients in one day and, and many in one week. That's extremely helpful. Another thing is, my coworker is my neighbor. We say "Hi," you know, before work. Things I like to do in the North Country is I love to be on my pontoon boat with my family. If you're wondering, where I'm going to be on my time off, I'm going to be on the water in the summertime. I love to snow machine in the winter with my dad and we recently picked up camping. We went camping last year at Bailey's campground in Maine. Plan to do it again this year. Weather was great. Ocean was fabulous. My son loved it.

Work-life balance is important to our well-being. Describe what work-life balance means to you & how you feel NHS helps you meet your needs.

Kristin: Work life balance is very important to Northern Human Services. All you have to do is communicate with your supervisor. If you need to come in late, leave early, get a day off. If you're communicating with your supervisor and you report that, you're struggling, you're stressed out, your mental health is very important to Northern Human Services and they will give you that day off. They won't ask questions; they'll probably follow up the next day to ask how you're doing. Coworkers will step in and take over your caseload for you. So, you don't have to worry about anything.
