Speaker: Dick Davis
HOW Was Your Health Before the Program?
Dick Davis: So about 20 years ago I was diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes and I didn't pay, a lot of attention to it because it seemed to be well controlled just from my normal diet and it wasn't outrageous. I'd get up to like 6.4, And. Then recently, that I was fortunate enough to win a free evaluation. And and and drawing and Rotary Club event from New me Health and it opened up the opportunity to make some adjustments to my lifestyle that would possibly bring this down, so. I had come to realize that. Diabetes, can cause, cognitive decline, and being, partway through my eighties, I have become increasingly concerned with that. So while my health was pretty good. I. So I need to try and make it better.
WHAT Was Your Wake-Up Call?
Dick Davis: I would say my wake up call was the realization that Diabetes, even type 2 diabetes, can contribute to cognitive decline. And at 84, I'm particularly concerned about increasing cognitive decline. And trouble with names and so on. Also, my A1C, while it was like in the low 6.4 or 6.2, it was not coming down even though my doctor had increased my. Metformin to, from 500 to 1000 mg a day. And I Just decided that I needed to do more about it.
WHY This Program Felt Different?
Dick Davis: My expectations were not particularly high when I Decided to take advantage of the free evaluation I'd won in a drawing at Rotary Club event. And I was surprised to learn the importance of vegetables and fruit in my diet. I've been an omnivore all my life and I've enjoyed all types of meat and fish. And I'd have to admit that was the primary part of my diet so. The. Information that I was provided at the clinic was compelling. To show what could benefits I could receive from. Making it a point to have more fruit and more vegetables more regularly in my daily diet. That information was what was different about this program and this approach led me to decide to give it a try.
Let's Talk About Your Transformation (Results)
Dick Davis: The changes over the last 6 months have been significant beyond my expectations. I continue to work out with a personal trainer 1 day a week for 1 hour. I continue to have a massage once a month for 1.5. I continue to eat regularly, but with a different diet. Than I was used to before and I've seen my Blood pressure come down from 180. Over 80 to 135 over. 70 typically on a daily basis. I had already gone from a weight of 160 down to 145 before I started the program, but I found it quite easy to maintain my weight in my desired weight of 145 pounds. And, my A1C has now come down to like 5.6. I'm in a range that can be considered pre-diabetic and I think with some continued time I may actually qualify to say I am not diabetic. That's pretty exciting.
WHAT's Your Message to Others Who're Struggling With Similar Health Challenges?
Dick Davis: So I wouldn't presume to know what this might do for someone else's health, except to say that it's been remarkable for me. I think the feedback I get from the continuous glucose monitor that comes with the program, the daily weight and body mass index readings that I record. And the. Fact that I see this feedback and keeps it on my mind along with the excellent nutritional advice that I get from Eva. Is just the sort of motivation that keeps me on track and has led me to the results I've achieved. I'm very pleased and, therefore I'd say give it a try. I don't think you can go wrong and. I've had the, the blood work, the, 360 degree analysis of my body shape and Just a tremendous amount of feedback on the whole health process that gives you encouragement and so. I guess my recommendation would be if you can give it a try.
