Speakers: Susan Radun
Briefly describe the challenge that you faced before working with Navexio?
Susan Radun: Hi, my name is Susan Radun. I am a cancer survivor, and I'm here to tell you a bit about my story. In 2019, I had a liver transplant, a very successful liver transplant, and a month after that, I received a pathology report showing that I had stage two cholangiocarcinoma, that was, this was a pathology on what was removed from my body.
How did Navexio support you for diagnostic navigation?
Susan Radun: Luckily I was put in touch with the experts at Navexio who are incredibly helpful. They had suggested a number of things, but primarily, the focus was to test the whatever was removed to determine a genetic profile or genetic makeup, and then from that, figure out what type of treatment I would likely respond to. It's really become sort of personalized medicine. It's not really one size fits all. It is a specific, there would be specific markers, specific indicators that would determine what type of cancer, what type of treatment I could receive that my cancer, my body would respond to. So, after sending these tests to the US, came back and the dominant expression in my cancer was that I would likely respond to a breast cancer treatment that is commonly given to people with breast cancer. I was not able to get that treatment through a regular oncologist. They just wouldn't do it. So, my doctor went about finding an oncologist who would prescribe that treatment for me. And I did it in a private lab. Navexio held my hand through every step of the way, and I consulted with them in terms of every step that I was taking and was supported in that process. And I'm here to tell you that I am, 6.5 years later, and I am cancer free. So I really do owe it, owe my life to the incredible team at Navexio because without their help and assistance, I wouldn't be here. So hoping that this story helps anybody out there that may be dealing with similar issues, and you're in very good hands with the team at Navexio. Thank you.
