What is your motivation for and why are you applying to serve on the NACE Board of Directors?

Suzanne Helbig: Hello, sourcing and nominations committee. I hope you're having a nice day. I'm Suzanne Helbig and I serve as the Associate Vice Provost for the Division of Care Pathways at the University of California Irvine. And I'm really excited to apply for the chair elect and vice chair college positions. Thank you for the opportunity to share my why for applying. And in short, I want this role because one nas values align with mine two, the role supports my career goals and three, it allows me to contribute strengths to an organization that has given me and countless others so much. So when it comes to values, alignment and activation, NACE has my utmost respect and admiration that has only grown, especially in light of its instrumental role in helping members strategically position career services and university relations and recruiting and its leadership role in anti racism. And DE I I was on Mace's board of directors when Mace created its 10 commitments to anti racism and being part of this collaborative process alongside incredible leaders, was a transformational experience, seeing NACE activate and update the commitments has inspired me to strengthen DE I strategies at my campus for example, I'm a founding member of the Black Thriving Initiative Advisory board. I am part of the data driven student success initiative that is identifying structural barriers to equitable student experiences and outcomes as well as actions to address them. My office is part of the OCUC I latinx Alliance that engages county employers to expand access to internship and mentorship, mentorship opportunities at our Hispanic serving institution. And when it comes to my career goals, I would love to be NA chair someday and being vice chair or certainly chair elect will help me get there alongside with that leadership aspiration, the roles responsibilities in pursuit of NA'S goals and vision, excite me. And I look forward to contributing inclusive practices to amplify all voices. Like I have done as one of four permanent directors of the Global Career Services Summit and like I did with Na's Task Force on the strategic positioning of one of my most rewarding experiences of my career with NAS Strategic Plan for revision. In the coming year. The role will also make use of strategic planning best practices that I built at two UC campuses on both M Pace and NA boards and as a presenter on the topic at N AM L I. So I helped to make an impact with these strengths and I would relish the chance to be back at the board meetings alongside stellar leaders and N A staff. In closing, I would love to help shape the future of N A. And I know there are many talented leaders within the n community and you'll have some tough decisions to make. I sincerely thank you for your time and consideration.
