Speaker: Susan Brennan, Assistant Dean, Career Development Office, MIT Sloan School of Management
What is your motivation for and why are you applying to serve on the NACE Board of Directors?
Susan Brennan: Hi, I'm Susan Brennan, assistant dean of career development at MIT Sloan School Management. I'm also a NA A member, volunteer leader and advocate for na's vision, mission values and goals. Having helped shape these during my two meaningful years on the board and in my personal life, I'm a wife, mom, sister, daughter, committed family member, friend and mentor. So let's start with why, why do I want to serve on the board of N as the pandemic years were challenging in terms of transition and loss? I found questions of meaning, purpose and why even more critical as I design this next chapter. Last year, I graduated from the Modern Elder Academy Wisdom School and earned a certificate in mindset management. I participated in this intensive program with a goal to clarify my, why reimagining aging and unlocking deeper meaning and fulfillment in my life and career today, I'm as wise as curious and committed to sharing my wisdom in the world with much reflection and gratitude to the leaders. Before me, I've made an intentional decision to submit my application to serve as a leader on the NA board. So why na because for over two decades as a leader in career development, I've benefited from nasa's mission NASA that opened up so many opportunities in my career, whether shaping the future of our profession, advancing nasa's vision for equitable employment outcomes for all or serving on the board with inspiring colleagues to shape our strategic plan. My NA SERVICE has helped me to grow as a leader and to experience firsthand organizational excellence while driving innovation. I'm most proud of how I've influenced and mentored my teams to engage with NA. I'm humbled by that. Our team received a care services excellence award in my last year at Bentley, as well as by my colleagues at MIT Sloan who have partnered with NA on the launch of the N inclusive excellent certification pilot in June. I personally benefited from nasa's values and my why is to help nasa's 17,000 plus members to experience our collective power. I'm clear about my purpose. I help individuals and teams to gain the awareness and clarity required to make bold strategic moves. I'm often called the sunny questioner because I reliably show up with thoughtful questions and innovative paths forward as a NA board leader, you can count on me to honor's remarkable legacy and to help drive our organization forward for the next 70 years together.
