What is your motivation for and why are you applying to serve on the NACE Board of Directors?
Jessica Nguyen: Hi. Um I am just hoping to be a part of the N A board um because I am truly inspired and in awe of the leaders that are already part of NAS and honestly, you know, and selfishly um would love the chance to work more closely with everyone and learn from their experiences and their leadership. Um I am hoping that I can bring new ideas to the board um and utilize my back uh working in career services and now uh on the university relations side um to help, you know, identify, where are the gaps between the two and where could we potentially make, um you know, some changes um or, and create some new ideas for how we can involve the two and really make sure that we are preparing students in the best way possible for that transition from college to work. Um I also am really excited and hopeful to continue um supporting the value of belonging. Uh but also, um the initiative is shy of your goals around de I um working in this space has allowed me to get more in touch with my background and heritage and, you know, identifying as a minority female. Um that was a first generation college student. Um and being able to share those stories in my lived experiences with others um whether students or young professionals in the area um to let them know, you know, they're not alone and here's, you know, ways to get through everything um and show that support. So I think n would allow me to continue doing that. Um Hopefully, maybe even in a broader, more impactful way, I also really would like to be part of the goal with leading dialogue and getting more awareness out there about N um I feel like N is well known in the college space, but not necessarily for all employers. And so I would love to be able to help impact how many employers we get um in N and share my stories as an employer uh partner right now and you know, what better selling point than being able to authentically share um how N impacted us um or myself and our, my companies that I've worked for um to bring value to them. So, uh yes, there's just so many reasons I would love to be a part of the N A board um to contribute to the work that everyone is doing and to learn from the leadership there. Um But also just to, you know, be part of the positivity um N has helped me get out of my shell. Um I was very shy, quiet. Person growing up. And so na has truly helped me get out of my comfort zone, feel more um part of a group and not be afraid to speak up and good presentations and share um information. And so I'm hoping to continue growing in that space and continuing to grow up that confidence by being on the board um and giving back to a group that has really given a lot to me.
